PERSONAL LIFE
Zoey
Deutch was born November 10, 1994, which means she is currently (first
half of 2013) 18 years old. She was born in Los Angeles, California,
United States of America. Her mother is Lea Thompson, 52 years old
American actress, television director and television producer. Howard
Deutch, her father, is currently 63 years old, and famous for being a
film director. However, she and her mother are not the only actors in
her family, her paternal great uncle Robert Walden is, too.
Her father is of Jewish religion, and Zoey was raised this way, too. She even had a Bat Mitzvah (Jewish "coming of age" ritual).
Zoey is of a family of actors and musicians, so it is no major surprise she became an actress, too. As a little girl, Zoey would play out scenes with her dolls, making her parents sure of her future career. However, acting was not her only childish passion, she was a child dancer, too, excelling at ballet, competitive jazz and tap. She was a double major in both theatre and visual arts at the Los Angeles Country High School for the Arts. She also simultaneously studied at the Young Actors Space with Patrick Day.
CAREER
Zoey's first leading role was in an indie flick co-wrote, produced and directed by Alex Pires, "Mayor Cupcake", where she played her real life mother's daughter -- a small town girl, with big time political aspirations. Her next role was in 2010 on the Disney Channel's "The Suite Life on Deck" as Maya, Zack Martin's love interest -- this was the role in which she charmed many fans, most of them are still loyal to her nowadays.
She was also a guest star on "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" and "NCIS" and then she took a leading role of Willow Turner in 2011 pilot "Hallelujah". She also had a recurring role on CW's show "Ringer", where she played Juliet Martin, Sarah Michelle Gellar's troubled stepdaughter.
In 2013, Zoey Deutch took part in "Beautiful Creatures", in which she stars alongside Viola Davis, Emma Thompson & Jeremy Irons as Emily Asher -- a popular high school student, who covers her hurt and humanity with her southern belle sass.
Zoey can also be seen on ABC's show "Switched at Birth", where she has a recurring role of Elisa. But to the date, Zoey Deutch's biggest project is "Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters", a film of 2014, based on a series of books by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy). As of May 2013, the cast of Blood sisters starts shooting. The film is scheduled for February, 2014. Zoey Deutch portraits a 17 year old high school student Rosemarie Hathaway, a dhampir girl who acts as a guardian to her best friend Vasilisa 'Lissa' Dragomir, a royal Moroi (vampire).
